Emily’s Blog

An Introduction

March 23rd, 2009

I’d like to start by saying hello.

“Hello.”

My name is Emily, and if you’ve found this website then I’m sure you’re at least somewhat familiar with who I am and the purpose of this blog. I want to start by saying that some of you may know me either personally or from some of my online haunts.

That being said, I do have a MySpace profile, LiveJournal, Facebook page, and Twitter. Please do not mistake my “Friends Only” status on any of those outlets as rejection. I assure you, it is not.  I’m just a fairly private person, and I hope that everyone can respect that.  I would like this to be an open forum where mental health and personal experience can be discussed openely with the knowledge that nothing said directly to me in an e-mail, in person, through Instant Message, or over the phone will be disclosed with your personal information attached.  I will occasionally make examples, and try  my best to keep personal information anonymous. Consider this an informal “privacy policy”.

All disclaimers aside, here’s a little bit about me as I am today. My 23rd birthday is creeping up on me, but I don’t feel a day over 13. I’m a little immature sometimes, especially when it comes to my sense of humor. I possess a great deal of “uncommon knowledge”, and I enjoy trivia games or any sort of brain teasers. My husband and I live in central Pennsylvania, and I work downtown in Harrisburg at a relatively  normal day job. We have a cat whom I shall refer to on here as “Hank” since his official title is rather long. Children may be in our future, but for now we’re just enjoying the company of each other. In my spare time I like going to local punk and metal shows, reading reading reading!, writing short stories, cooking, and watching Vh1 reality shows.  I’ve recently decided to go back to school to finish my Associate’s Degree in Language, Humanities, and The Arts.  Someday I would like to be able to play the cello and have a large collection of antique books. I have 4 tattoos all of which I will gladly show and explain if you want to know about them. When it comes to religion my dad and I can’t be any more different, although I respect many different viewpoints I personally would consider myself to be a “secular humanist”. I would explain that term  with more detail, but I love to encourage research and knowledge.

So go forth, and learn!

But, before you go… I would like to “open the floor” to questions/comments/suggestions. This is your blog as much as mine, and your participation is encouraged! Please feel free to e-mail me at emily@ducttapeandwd40.com or leave a comment.
